LEEDS: World Community if intervene in Syria then why is it silenced over Kashmir issue and if British Army was sent to everywhere to help resolve international issues then why not to Kashmir. British Government should intervene in Kashmir directly to get this long-standing issue resolved.
These were the view of speakers at a seminar organized by Jammu Kashmir Right of Self Determination Movement (SDM) at Civic Hall Leeds. Due to signature campaign kicked off by Jammu Kashmir Right of Self Determination Movement (SDM) very soon British Parliament will hold debate on Kashmir issue.
The seminar was presided over by SDM Chairman Raja Najabat Hussain, which was started with the recitation of Holy Quran by Sardar Sohrab Khan. The seminar was attended by Shadow Minister Richal Reeves MP, Fabian Hamilton MP from Leeds North-east, Trade Union Congress President Muhammad Taj, Advisor to AJK Premier Sardar Abdu Rehman Khan, SDM Secretary Muhammad Azam, former Lord Mayor Bradford Chaudhry Aurangzeb, President Muslim Conference Britain Chaudhry Bashir Rattvi, Councilor Muhammad Rafiq, Dr Abdul Majid and Muhammad Yaqoob addressed the seminar.

People from different cities of North of England including Parliamentarians, Councilors and community leaders have shown their solidarity with SDM and assured to support the campaign.
The speakers were of the view Kashmiris are facing worst type of Indian excesses and British Parliamentarians will raise voice for Kashmiris at all world forums. There should be true representation of more than one million British Kashmiris, they demanded.
State of Jammu Kashmiri is indivisible entity and Kashmiris will resist any move for division of Kashmir, they said, adding erection of concrete walls and presence of lakhs of army personnel in Kashmir will not suppress the ongoing freedom movement.
Shadow Minister Richal Reeves said being a front bencher she cannot sign the petition but I fully support the text of petition and freedom movement of Kashmiris. I will support this signature campaign in my constituency and also brief the front bench Parliamentarian about it and support the movement for rights of Kashmiris, she added.
The right of self-determination is an alienable right of every human being and Kashmiris should be allowed to exercise this right, she said, adding world community should support Kashmiris and press UN and India to implement the UN Resolutions.
She demanded immediate end of human rights violations in Kashmir saying that she will always support Kashmir cause and the struggle of SDM.
She termed the struggle of women wing of SDM as useful for Kashmir cause.
Fabian Hamilton MP from Leeds North-east has demanded thorough debate on Kashmir issue. He signed the petition in presence of my voters and has announced full support to petition and Kashmir cause as well.
Besides making sure the one lakh signatures on this petition he will support to hold debate in British Parliament by using some other channels, he said, adding that he will continue support the friends from SDM.
Referring the issues of Syria, Cyprus and many other countries, he demanded the world community to support Kashmiris right of self-determination Hamilton said, He talked about his attachment with Kashmir cause and his relationship with Raja Najabat Hussain.
President British Trade Union Congress Muhammad Taj said he as a trade unionist took part in liberation movement from a long time and will struggle for Kashmir cause in present capacity. Every Parliamentarian should lobby in his constituency and help use influence to resolve Kashmir issue. SDM has given a comprehensive program and it should be given full support, he added.
Earlier, Patron of SDM, Sardar Abdul Rehman briefed the participants about importance of signature campaign of SDM and also talked on UN Resolution about Kashmir. Former Lord Mayor Bradford Chaudhry Aurangzeb presented facts and figures about human rights violations by Indian forces in Kashmir. He criticized the silence of world community about the erection of concrete wall on Line of Control.
