MANCHESTER: Freedom movement of Kashmir has a unique role among the national liberation movements active round the globe as Kashmiris are a brave nation which sacrificed lives to attain the goal, said Sarah Champion British Parliamentarian.
She was addressing a function organized to mark the 30th Martyrdom Anniversary of Muqbool Butt, the iconic Kashmiri leader who was hanged by India in Tihar Jail Delhi on February 11, 1984.
Former Lord Mayor Manchester Afzal Khan, Chairman Right of Self Determination Movement Raja Najabat Hussain, Tehreek Insaf leader Shahnaz Siddiq also addressed the gathering. The function was conducted by Councilor Muhammad Azam and Miss Falak.
Kashmiris have lit the torch of freedom and are giving blood to keep it alive and very soon they will attain their desire goal and they are capable to take their struggle to its logical conclusion, Champion said.
Sarah Champion said Kashmiris should be given their right to self-determination as enshrined in the UN resolutions.
“I salute Muqbool Butt and heroes like Muqbool Butt are always alive and are real beacon of light for Kashmiris and other people fighting for their rights”, she said, adding as a parliamentarian she will use his efforts and play role for right of self-determination of Kashmiri people.
Raja Najabat Hussain said Muqbool Butt by sacrificing his life has proved that India by using terror and suppression, cannot suppress the freedom movement of Kashmir. Kashmiris are determined to get their right of freedom from India, he added.
