PPCUK pay tribute to Haji Razaq, condemn attack on Azhar residence

LONDON: Pakistan Press Club UK (PPCUK) in its hurriedly called meeting at Walthamstow has paid tributes to Haji Abdul Razaq Yaqoob and expressed shock over the sad demise of Haji Razaq an iconic figure of Pakistan. Haji Razaq was hospitalized for a long time.

The participants of the meeting praised the services of Haji Razaq for Pakistan and for overseas community and it was decided that a function would be hold at Watford to pay homage to Haji Razaq.

Meanwhile, the meeting strongly condemned the terrorist attack on residence of PPCUK Secretary General Azhar Javed. The participants were of the view that till the preliminary report of police comes into light, no action would be taken while after this report further strategy would be evolved.

Community leaders on the occasion expressed shock and sorrow over both the incidents like sad demise of Haji Razaq and attack on residence of Azhar Javed.

They condemned the attack of residence of Azhar Javed and said these are threatening calls for journalist to stop them from highlighting the social evils. “If it was an act of anti-journalist element we are in a position to give strong reaction over it”, they added.

They said the attack and destruction of things prove that someone charged person was well aware of absence of people and their return back.

Secretary General Azhar Javed on the occasion thanked people from Britain, Pakistan and world over for their concern shown on attack on his residence and for expressing solidarity with him over this hour of need.

He said British Police has started investigation on this incident as how in broad day light happened which has frightened the residence of the vicinity.

The participants of the meeting express their solidarity with Azhar Javed, Bureau Chief of Dunya TV and Secretary General PPC and assured them full cooperation of journalist community.

They said documents are asset of a journalist and it is not known which documents the attackers took along.

They asked Government of Pakistan to take action on this issue so that any unscrupulous elements be allowed to play dirty game.
