Stephenson re-elected as Chairman APPG on Pakistan

NELSON: Andrew Stephenson, Conservative Parliamentarian from Pendal, was re-elected Chairman of All Parties Parliamentary Group on Pakistan in British Parliament.
Stephenson, a popular political figure among Pakistani and Kashmir community, was re-elected as Chairman in annual meeting of the Parliamentary Committee.
Speaking on the occasion Stephenson said that this group is very important for bringing two strategically important countries close.
A huge number of population of British is of Pakistan origin, which is playing an important role in socio-economic development of the country, he said, adding that this groups hold different programmes to discuss the ways and means to resolve the problems and Pakistan leaders coming to Britain are being invited in British Parliament.
Pakistan and British Parliamentarians are discussing the means to bring two countries close, Stephenson said.
“I have to work for interests of my voters as a huge number of them is of Pakistani and Kashmiri origin, so that it is imperative for me to remain aware of the problems of Pakistan”, he said, adding that remainign aware of Pakistan situation would have a good impact on people living in Pendal.
People, particularly Pakistanis and Kashmiris, living in Pendal have expressed pleausre on re-elections of Stephenson as Chairman of the Group saying that he is working for Asian people and taking keen interest in resolving their problems.
