LONDON: Nisar Khorro, Education Minster of Sindh has revealed the provincial government the steps taken by Sindh Government in previous tenure for promotion of education has no match in history.
“We are committed to continue the pace and even make more improvement and we will ensure more and more students go abroad for higher education on scholarship”, Khorro said after signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with London College of Business Management and Information Technology. Chairman of the College and Forum for International Relations Development (FIRD) Taha Qureshi and Director Omer Qureshi were present on the occasion.
Khorro said overseas Pakistanis are concerned over current economic, political and law and order situation of Pakistan, but it is reality that Pakistani nation has resistance power and it has proved as a great nation.
He agreed that due to terrorism, strikes and other law and order situation education has suffered a lot. It is necessary that people should not indulge any such activities due to which education will suffer.
He said he has assumed as education minister just six months back and he has opened all schools where education was not being given, this is still continue and very son he will ensure 100 per cent success, as his desire is every person from young generation will be educated.
He said overseas scholarships will prove beneficial for education in Sindh as it will help students to attain higher education abroad.
Talking on political situation Khorro said Pakistan Peoples’ Party has not closed its doors for negotiation with Muttahida Qaumi Movement and nor with it take any solo-flight. Local Body polls will be conducted but this matter was taken to court by MQM, he said.
He said PPP is committed to hold local body polls and this is why it has passed the local body polls bill in consensus with all parties.
He said terrorism is a problem of whole country and it was effort of PPP government to hold operation against terrorists who are not accepting the writ of the government. People who are not accepting the writ of the government not deserve any leniency and they should not be brought in table, he added.
Speaking on the occasion Taha Qureshi said his institution has signed MoU with Education Minister under which they will give 98,000 pound scholarships to students hailing from Interior Sindh. These MoUs were signed with other provinces of Pakistan and through these agreements Pakistani students would be brought to Britain for education.
These students would be make bound to go back after completion of education and educate people in their areas, he said, adding under 18th Amendment of Constitution of Pakistan the education was made provincial subject and now provincial governments can better deliver in education sector.
