Minister in IHK forced to resign over molestation

SRINAGAR: Molestation with a female doctor by Minister of State for Health castes him the ministry and he is expected to be arrested after he tendered his resignation.

According to details, Congress MLA from Rajouri area of Indian occupied Kashmir and Minister of State for Health Shabir Ahmed Khan was nominated in an FIR registered by a lady doctor in Shaheed Gunj Police Station in Srinagar. In the FIR No 14/2014 under section 509, the female doctor alleged that the Minister had molested her. The Chief Minister Omar Abdullah raised the issue with Congress High Command, which forced the State Minister to tender his resignation.

Court issued arrest warrants later of former minister of state for health. Police obtained the warrants from the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Srinagar against Shabir Ahmad Khan said a senior police officer. A police team has been dispatched to arrest the former minister, a Congress lawmaker. Police sources said the team would initially go to Jammu and, if needed, outside the state.

Former minister was accused of sexually assaulting a local female doctor after he called her to his office Jan 28. If proven guilty, the accused can be imprisoned for a period of two years.

Police registered the FIR against Shabir Ahmed Khan on the directions of the CJM Srinagar under sections 509 and 354 of the Ranbir penal code Feb 6.
