LONDON: Million marches would be hold in the US and Brussels after Britain to highlight Kashmir issue on international forum and build a powerful world opinion for Kashmir, said Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry, former AJK Prime Minister and senior leader of ruling PPP.
“Kashmiris and Friends of Kashmir from round the globe would be invited to participate in the ‘Million Marches’ and all political parties of AJK would be also invited to participate” Sultan Mehmood said while talking to media after completing the Britain visit.
Former Member AJK Council Hameed Pothi, Chaudhry Majid Ismael, Former Advisor Chaudhry Shaban, Chaudhry Hakamdad, Chaudhry Dilpazeer and Chaudhry Farooq were present on the occasion while Maqbool Bhatti was the host.
Barrister Sultan said in first ‘Million March’ to be held in Britain in October besides him and his friends 25 British Parliamentarians are actively involved to make it a success. These parliamentarians have assured complete support for the ‘Million March’ during their meetings in House of Commons, he added.
He said at present world attention is towards Southeast Asia with regard to Afghanistan, withdrawal NATO and the US forces and it is high time to highlight Kashmir issue. “We have to apprise world leaders that peace of the region and withdrawal of NATO and the US forces is linked with solution of Kashmir issue”, he added.
World should know the solution of Kashmir is imperative at this stage and without involving Kashmiris the real party to Kashmir issue no durable solution is possible, former AJK Premier said.
He said Britain is well aware of the importance of Kashmir issue and the US is deliberately keeping Kashmir on freeze box, while through European Parliamentarians Kashmir issue was highlighted forcefully.
Now it is time to gather people from every nook and corner to take a step which force world to take cognizance of Kashmir issue and ‘Million March’ is part of this mindset, Sultan Mehmood said.
He stressed the need of appointment of US special representative on Kashmir as it has appointed on Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Responding to questions, Barrister Sultan said he is ready to discharge any responsibility regarding Kashmir issue reposed on him by Kashmiri nation.
He said besides common people from Britain, Councilors, Mayors and Parliamentarians would be invited to participate in ‘Million March’.
Barrister Sultan avoided to reply question regarding the present political scenario in AJK but his body language was indicative the he is returning to AJK in haste where he might be hold some responsibility.
Soon after the demise of his father Chaudhry Noor Hussain, Barrister Sultan arrived in Britain while a close aide of former President Asif Zardari was also present in London. But so far the meeting between them was not confirmed.
While sources close to Zardari House are satisfied the ways towards power corridors for Barristers have been smoothened.
