Maintaining national identity, culture abroad is objective of OPS: Javed Malik

LONDON: No one can separate Overseas Pakistan from their nation and country and if we were deported from this country Pakistan will be our last destination, as we played good role in development of the country by sending huge foreign exchange, said Javed Malik, Chairman Overseas Pakistanis Solidarity (OPS).

He was addressing the party leaders and workers during annual meeting of the OPS. “Two we are again facing the problem of dual nationality as our desire is to keep our links with our country and our next generations remain in touch with Pakistan”, he said, adding to maintain our national identity, cultural and rich traditions will always remain supreme objective of overseas Pakistanis and OPS as well.

Today Pakistan is surrounded by enemies and anti Pskistan elements are busy in hatching conspiracies, he said, adding the situation demands from Pakistanis and particularly overseas Pakistanis to show unity and frustrate the evil designs of these enemies.

Criticizing the negative attitude of Bangladesh, Javed Malik said Bangladesh must remain in its limites. “Attacks on our national ego at the time of hanging Abdul Qadir is high condemnable and Bangladeshis must apologize”, he added.

Addressing the gathering Brig Haroonur Rashid said the foundation of OPS, its aims and objectives and its love for Pakistan is praise worthy.

Habib Jan said OPS did a lot to resolve problems of Overseas Pakistanis and these efforts will remain always in hearts of overseas community.

On the occasion Vice Chairman OPS Muhammad Akhtar, Muhammad Saleem Sheikh, Bena Khan, Parvaiz Akbar, Noor Islam, King Atif Gujjar, Mona Khan addressed the gathering.

Speakers expressed dismay over callous attitude of Pakistan Government towards resolving problems of Overseas Pakistanis. They said that issuance of passport delayed issuance of visa, extra call charges are problems which Pakistanis living abroad are facing but government is not paying any heed.

They said attaining student visa for Pakistani students is very difficult and black law introduced by Home Office are adding in it while extra charges by PIA has also added in miseries of Overseas Pakistanis.
