LONDON: Former Mayor of Newham, Sheikh Abdul Karim in his address titled ‘Iqbal Ka Paigham, Insaniyat ke Nam’ the message of Iqbal for humanity said that the message of Iqbal was not only for Muslims but for entire humanity and humanity has to respond to this message.
Majlis e Iqbal London in league with Barking Muslim Social and Cultural Society (BMSCS) arranged a literary function on Iqbal’s life, which was attended by a large number of Muslims from all over Britain particularly Pakistanis besides Muslims from Barking.
The function was presided over by Prof Khizar Azam, while Dr Idrees and Shuja Sheikh former Advisor to Beacony, while the function was started with recitation from Quranic verses by Raja Muhammad Bashir, President BMSCS. Prof Sharif Baqa while highlighting the birth of Iqbal.
Sheikh Abdul Karim said Iqbal’s message was of universal importance and increasing majority of Iqbal is loudly speaking that people are discussing Iqbal in every nook and corner of world.
Reciting poetry of Iqbal, Sheikh said Iqbal was really spokesman and well wisher of humanity and was feeling the pain in her chest.
Muhammad Abdullah Qureshi, in his address titled as “Iqbal and Love of Holy Prophet (PBUH), during which he said Iqbal was a true lover of Holy Prophet (PBUH), which is clear and indicative in every verse of his poetry.
Renowned Lawyer Barrister Saleem Qureshi read his paper on ‘Iqbal and present era’ saying that poetry of Iqbal is not giving us highlights of past but it is making things clear regarding present era and future as well.
Aslam Rasheed in his typical poetic style gave an index of height of Iqbal while Salman Saud read a ‘Ghazal’ of Iqbal. Salman Saud is a true lover of Iqbal and has authority in reading poetry of Iqbal in a style, while people praised him.
Dr Jamal is known for his affection with Iqbal, who read his own poetry ‘Allama Muhammad Iqbal’.
Shakeeb Maraz, a well known poet read a short but thought provoking ‘nazam’.
