Independent Kashmir will prove bridge between India, Pakistan: Shaukat Butt

LUTON: Kashmiris are not demanding independent Kashmir because of any hatred with India and Pakistan but they want a prosperous Kashmir free from class system and exploitation, said Shaukat Muqbool Butt, Chairman Jammu Kashmir National Liberation Conference.

He was addressing a historical seminar at Dao Community Center, organized by Jammu Kashmir National Awami Party (JKNAP).

Shaukat Muqbool Butt is son of Martyr Muqbool Butt, an iconic leader of Kashmir liberation movement, who was hanged by India in Tihar Jail on February 11, 1984 for his demand of an independent Kashmir.

“We want an independent Kashmir which can be bridge of friendship between India and Pakistan and add is development and prosperity of two countries”, Shaukat Butt said.

He urged Kashmiris to redesign their liberation movement, broaden their vision and take all responsibility to attain the freedom. Freedom is a cherished goal for which any sacrifice can be made and Kashmiris should be ready for sacrifices for the sake of freedom, he added.

Lord Qurban Hussain said Muqbool has rendered supreme sacrifices for Kashmiri people and it is now responsibility of Kashmiri nation to make more friends to attain their goal. He said Pakistan is only country known as friend of Kashmiris and people who are keeping India and Pakistan on one fold must think as why Muqbool Butt fought against India.

He asked Kashmiris to press Britain to help resolve Kashmir issue on the pattern of Scotland.

Malik Sadiq Subhani said today a united JKNAP is present here. “We are moving towards unity and we will hold family events in Britain to highlight Kashmir issue and bring women and children into lime light regarding freedom movement of Kashmir”, he said.

Ghaffar Inqilabi said Kashmiris are not terrorists while their freedom movement is being suppressed by state terrorism.

Asif Masood Chaudhry, who administered oath to newly elected office bearers said, the JKNAP will meet all the nationalists’ f Kashmir for the sake of freedom and take them along for the sacred cause. He said the organization will form a strategy to organize workshops and continue programs for whole year. “We will hold self-accountability and will not enter into personal mud-slinging”, he added.

Dr Aftab said “We want to lay a foundation of Kashmir free from any sort of class system and this was ideology of Muqbool Butt Shaheed. We want freedom from exploitation, hunger, unemployment and poverty”.

“No freedom movement can be seen keeping the socio economy aside”, Dr Aftab said.

Shamsur Rehman said liberation movement has entered into a historically decisive stage, which demands from the nationalist forces to come on one platform to attain the goal.

The seminar was addressed by Tehseen Gilani, Prof Nazir Nazish, Faisal Qureshi, Ali Akhtar Qadir of PPP.

Before the seminar new office bearers were elected which include Sadiq Subhani President, Sardar Mushtaq sr Vice President, Shafiq Inqilabi Vice President, Amjid Sharif Organizer, Azad Raja Secretary General, Wajid Ayub Deputy Secretary, Zaheer Ghauri Joint Secretary, Khwaja Zahid Lone Publicity Secretary, Ijaz Peer Finance Secretary and Sardar Altaf Chairman Finance Board.
