Community playing vital role to uplift British economy: Amir Thaheem

MANCHESTER: Pakistani community has played very important role in upbringing of Britain’s economy but they need more united efforts for proving themselves, said Amir Thaheem, Trade Counselor at Counsel General Directorate.

He was addressing a meeting of top businessmen regarding the British Pakistani Business Festival 2014 at Town Hall.

While addressing the meeting, Thaheem said the main purpose of this festival is to give boost to Pakistani businessmen in Britain particularly the business community of North West of England, He said the main aim of bringing business leaders at this stage was to promote Pakistani trade and products in the festival to be held at Albert Squire Town Hall Manchester.

Lord Mayor Manchester, councillor Naeem ul Hassan said he is proud of the efforts made by former Lord Mayor Councillor Afzal Khan, candidate for European Parliament, seven years back for raising the image of Islam and Pakistan in this area. “Now this year I have got the honor and pleasure to hold Miladun Nabi PBUH, for the first time in history of ancient Town Hall and this hall was echoed with Naats for Holy Prophet PBUH and participants cut a cake on Birth Anniversary of Allah’s beloved Prophet PBUH”, he said.

Trade Counselor Amir Thaheem said to introduce Pakistani products and for uplift of Pakistani community and to raise their image in society Pakistan Business Festival 2014 is being arranged in Manchester, which is of very high significance. This will be a milestone in trade between Britain and Pakistan, he added.

Thaheem said Pakistani businessmen in Manchester and all over Britain will have a big opportunity to hoist national flag in Town Hall of Manchester in middle of 2014. It will provide them a chance to come close and raise their image in Britain and other communities living here and help introduce Pakistani products in local market, he added.

Addressing the meeting Councilor Afzal Khan, Labor Party candidate for European Parliament said he always worked to bring Pakistani businessman in North West close and to introduce themselves as Pakistani businessman.

Miss Afsheen Development Officer, businessmen Anil Masarat, Haroon Afzal Khatana, Amir Khan, Mian Jameel Ahmed, Chaudhry Muhammad Shahid, Ijazul Haq, Shamshad Ali, Chaudhry Masarat Ali, Barrister Amir Ilyas, Talat Awan, and Shafat Ali also addressed the gathering.
