LONDON: We should keep in mind Britain is a developed country where abilities, capabilities, personal qualities and qualification matter for moving forward than favoritism. To become a community leader on the basis of issues is imperative said Lord Nazir Ahmed.
“To gather some people and hold a meeting will not make a person leader but his efforts for community will make him leader”, Lord Nazir said while addressing the oath taking ceremony of newly elected Executive Council of Pakistan Press Club UK as chief guest.
The function was also addressed by Mushahidullah Khan Secretary Information of PML-N, Qamar Raza Chairman, World Congress of Overseas Pakistanis, Taha Qureshi Chairman Forum for International Relations Development and ex Chairman CM Punjab advisory committee for overseas Zubair Gul, while President Press Club Fayaz Ghafoor presided over the event. The function was conducted by Secretary General Press Club Azhar Javed.
Lord Nazir administered oath to newly elected Executive Council of Press Club. This ceremony was attended by people belonging to different fields of life and achievement awards were distributed among professionals of different fields on the basis of performance.
The professional who got awards include Chaudhry Khalid of World-wide Solicitors, Syed Shaukat Ali of UK Islamic Mission, Toaha Qureshi MBE Chairman FIRD, Qamar Raza Chairman WCOP, President UKPCCI A Shaheen, PPP activist Sultan Zaman and young talented artist Yasir Akhter.
“Every people’s representative elected from any seat of British Parliament will second my words as only qualified and better people can groom in Britain”, the British Peer said. He said that there are so many people who want to become leaders, but one should ask them to speak a word when community needs. British Attorney General passed wrong remarks against the community and later he tender apology, which is being accepted.
“I have done nothing wrong so there is no need to tender apology, but even then I am on target, how can we accept the apology from AG under such circumstances “, he added.
It is an easy move to target Muslims round the world, the killers of British soldier Michael Adebolajo and Michael Adebowale said they are Muslim, it was accepted without any investigation and no one bothered to check where and how they converted”, he asked, adding that no one knows where they became Muslims but, everyone knows Muslims are being targeted. “We are against any front being made against Muslims”.
“I am not against any institution or person but when ever I feel conspiracy against Britain and Pakistan, I will speak against it”, he said, adding any institution should get aid from Britain, but at least show moral courage to accept and spend in public.
Addressing the gathering, Senator Mushahid Ullah Khan congratulated the new office bearers of Press Club saying it is a healthy sign that Pakistan Press Club holds election every year, but you should force others to follow this good move as well being media person. Check and balance is necessary for every country, every institution and every organization, he said, adding one should criticize the government, but wait check the performance after sometime.
