BIRMINGHAM: A visionary leader like Benazir Bhutto is difficult to take birth in Islamic World again and looking her vision and international appreciation, the anti-Pakistan forces have snatched this great leader from Pakistan and Pakistanis.
These were the view of speakers in a function to mark the martyrdom anniversary of Benazir Bhutto. Chaudhry Shahnawaz, President, Pakistan Peoples’ Party Birmingham had hold the function to pay glowing tributes to slain leader, while British Peer and renowned community leader Lord Nazir Ahmed presided over the function and AJK Minister fr Auqaf Afsar Shahid was chief guest. Others who addressed the function were Labour Party candidate for European Parliament from West Midland Councillor Ansar Ali Khan, Liberation League leader Chaudhry Zafar Iqbal, Tasaduq Arrvi, renowned businessman Raja Azhar Hussain, Coordinator PPP UK Qayyum Raja, Chaudhry Miskeen, secretary PPP Birmingham Chaudhry Irshad Aziz, Muhammad Bota Shedai, Naib Hussain.
Addressing the gathering Lord Nazir Ahmed paid glowing tributes to slain leader Benazir Bhutto saying to meet any world dignitary was very pleasent as she was presentable internationally, she had a vision and was well aware of international politics. “I am still carrying the memories of the visits I had along with Benazir Bhutto and will always remain in my memories”, she added.
“Benazir Bhutto was always saying being head of the government every elected representative is equally respectable for me”, Lord Nazir said, adding that Benazir Bhutto was totally different in her personal life.
Afsar Shahid said it was Zulfiqar Bhutto who brought the politics ut from drawing rooms of feudal lords, capitalists and rich of the country and involved poor and working class in country’s politics. Bhutto has made people sovereignty of power in Pakistan and on this vision Benazir Bhutto started her politics and took Bhutto’s vision forward.
It was vision of Benazir Bhutto that she signed Charter of Democracy with her rival Nawaz Sharif, due to which democracy is flourishing in the country, he said. adding during the tussle era strong establishment not allowed the biggest two parties to rule country, but Benazir Bhutto closed the chapter of martial law by signing Charter of Democracy.
He said it is sad people are talking about failures of Pakistan. “We are not a failure country, we have achieved a lot right from 1947 and many successes are on our part”, he added.
Afsar Shahid said it is responsibility of every elected representative to give true picture of Pakistan to people and raise their hopes. Being representative of people of Dudyal I am doing my duty and trying myself hard to come over the expectations of my people, he added.
Others who addressed the gathering including Chaudhry Manzoor Hussain, Chaudhry Muhammad Afzal, Chaudhry Amjid, Councillor Ansar Ali Khan, Chaudhry Shahnawaz, Abdul Rauf Mughal, Chaudhry Muhammad Haneef and others pay tributes to Benazir Bhutto and said that Benazir Bhutto did a lot for Pakistan and particularly for working class of the country.
Participants have shown their full support to Councillor Ansar Ali Khan, Labour Party Candidate for Europeann Parliament from West Midland.
