Pak team ready to show off its strength for CWC19
London: Pakistan will play the one-off T20I against England on Sunday, which is important for the visitors because it will give them a fair idea about their selected squad for the World Cup 2019.
The mega cricketing event is scheduled to be played from May 30th to July 14th in England and Wales. The one T20I against the home side followed by five ODI games are seen as a gauge to predict Pakistan’s performance in the global event.
Pakistan may look to give a final chance to the skilled fast bowler, Mohammad Amir and the flamboyant batsman, Asif Ali to prove their form and make a strong case for their inclusion in the World Cup.
Experts from all around the world were shocked to see Amir being axed from the preliminary World Cup squad as he is being seen as a potential threat to oppositions in the English conditions.
On the other hand, it will be interesting to see how Pakistan’s young guns, the vicious pacer Muhammad Hasnain and the immensely talented Shaheen Shah Afridi go about in the all-important series.
The Men in Green will miss their trump card, Shadab Khan dearly during the England series, who has been sidelined due to the diagnosed Hepatitis C Virus. However, the team management is optimistic about his return ahead of the World Cup.
The top-ranked T20I side have a formidable batting line in the T20Is with Fakhar Zaman and Imam Ul Haq opening the batting and the top-ranked batsman of the format, Babar Azam coming in at the one down position. Moreover, they have Imad Wasim in the lower middle-order who has been in terrific form with the bat.
Whereas the visitors may feel the absence of their experienced duo, Shoaib Malik, who has returned home due to personal reasons and the injured Mohammad Hafeez, who will miss the T20I and the first two ODIs.
In contrast, England have been in top form in limited-overs cricket. They are the third-positioned side in the T20Is, while they are ruling the charts in the ODIs.
It will be interesting to see how the newer names like Joffra Archer, James Foakes, Joe Denly, Sam Curran and Phil Salt perform against the best T20I side of the world.
With few inexperienced players in the ranks, the skipper, Eoin Morgan, Joe Root James Vince and Adil Rashid will have a key role to play in the one-off game.
Pakistan have so far performed well on the tour, winning all three of their practice games convincingly.
