Luncheon hosted for Mayor of Pendal

NELSON: In Northwest of Britain a district council under the name of Nelson and Kohan was constituted in 1974 consisting of the areas of Kohan, Nelson, Brior Field and Redley and later some villages of Yorkshire were also included in it, which made Pendal Borough Council with a population of some 90,000.
Kashmiris and Pakistanis started reaching in this part of East Lancashire in 1950 and now they 14 per cent of the total population.
There are 11 Councillor of Kashmiri and Pakistani origin in the House of 49 Councillors and three Pakistani and Kashmiri origin councillors remained Mayor.
Fourth Pakistani Councillor Haji Nawaz Ahmed, took oath as First Citizen of Pendal, who remained councilor of Borough.
As per traditions Mayor visited St Locus Evangelist Church for pray. The arrangements are made by Borough Council and prominent personalities of Borough were invited. After prayers Mayor addressed the gathering and gave message of living with unity and solidarity.
On the occasion a luncheon was hosted for Mayor of Pendal praised the spirit of people of Pendal for remaining with unity saying he arrived in Pendal for work, “I worked here raised family, my kids born here and grown up here, I took part in local politics and today Allah took me to this seat”, he added.
He urged all the communities living in Pendal to remain united and ensure their participation in development of the Borough, besides participate in education and character building of children.
Councillor Muhammad Iqbal leader of the Council praised the pious character of Councillor Nawaz Ahmed.
Muhammad Asif also praised Councillor Ahmed Nawaz for his social gesture as councillor.
Mayoress of Pendle Azmat Ahmed and children of Mayor also participated in the function.
Deputy Mayoress Councillor Rosemary, Chief Executive Phillip Mouzdel, Justice of Peace Chaudhry Muneer Ahmed, Haji Safeer Ahmed, Councillor Abdul Aziz, Haji Rehmat Khan, Mehndi Khan, Maqsood Ahmed, Muhammad Ashraf, Councillor Muhammad Haneef, Councillor Saqib Nabi, Councillor Mohammad Amir, Councillor Vein, Councillor Linda Chrisley, former Mayor Councillor Keith Shoar, former Mayor Councillor Nadeem Ahmed, former Mayor Councillor Polin Makarmak, former Mayor John David, Aslam Javed, Muhammad Yaseen, Muhammad Yousuf, former Mayor George Adam and a large number of people from all walks of life were present on the occasion.
